Cleaning under the toilet rim is one of the most overlooked bathroom cleaning tasks, largely because it's hidden from view and easy to forget during routine cleaning. The underside of the rim can trap bacteria, mineral deposits, limescale, and waste residue that gradually build up with every flush. When left untreated, this can lead to stains, unpleasant smells, bacterial growth, and even reduced flush performance as water flow becomes restricted. Fortunately, addressing these hard-to-reach deposits doesn't have to be difficult.

Not all buildup under the toilet rim is the same. In most cases it’s either bacterial growth or mineral deposits. In contrast, chalky white, beige, or crusty deposits typically indicate limescale and calcium buildup caused by hard water. Steps to clean:
Once cleaning is complete, flush the toilet one final time to thoroughly rinse the bowl, underside of the rim, and jet openings.
