Safer Choice is an EPA program that evaluates and certifies products that use safer chemicals. For a product to earn a Safer Choice certification* every ingredient, without exception, must meet EPA’s rigorous health and environmental criteria.
In addition to ingredients, EPA considers a product’s performance (it must be on par with conventional products), packaging (it must meet sustainability standards), and PH (it must minimize the potential for skin and eye irritation and injury). Once a certification is earned, EPA conducts regular audits verify compliance.
